3 days and counting

Sunny weather, palm trees, white sand, rum runners and authentic Mexican cuisine, HERE I COME!!!

I leave for Tampa on Sunday, and this vacation couldn't come at a better time! I am in serious need of R&R, and that's exactly what this trip is about for me. I want to get some reading in, tan my ghostly skin, sip drinks by the pool and just be myself for a whole week without worrying about whether I forgot to do this or that.

I can't wait to shop in Cozumel and explore Progreso and maybe Merida. There's something about Mexico that draws me in - maybe it's the bright colors or the fantastic food or the beautiful beaches. It's probably all that and lots more that I've forgotten about because it's been too long since I've been back.

But that'll change in less than a week, and I am so very excited!

Step, Ouch. Step, Ouch. Step, OUCH!

Cute, aren't they?

It's too bad they've become my very own torture device.

I bought these little ditties over the weekend and loved them to death. That is, until I took more than the 10 steps around the DSW store where I bought the evil creatures.

I know you've generally got to give shoes a couple days to be broken in, but dangit. These things are simply brutal for those of us whose feet aren't little dainty girl feet.

It takes me forever to pick out shoes because, well, I'm neurotic about making sure my feet don't appear as wide as they really are. These shoes did the perfect job of hiding my problem, but now I'm torn. I can't take them back now that they've been worn once, can I?

Bump!

I just wanted to bump all those pictures of myself down a notch ... I swear if you're just stopping by my blog for the first time, I'm truly not as vain as it appears.

Anyhoo, I'm actually off tomorrow, which is pretty much insane. I'm so excited to spend some time with my dear friend Cady , who lives just an hour away, but who I haven't seen in almost two years! How does this happen? It's amazing how we can see friends and family who live hundreds of miles away several times a year and NOT get together with those who are much, much closer. Time just really gets away from us sometimes, doesn't it?

I wish you all a fab weekend! Go see those friends who are close by!

You get the picture

This is a terribly grainy picture, but it at least sort-of shows the end result of nearly 3 hours at the salon yesterday.

Well, except for the highlights, which you probably can't see here, but they're really there! Thankfully the stylist didn't go all crazy on my head and make me super blond.

And thanks, girls. The lowlights were an amazing idea that are also a new part of my beauty (ha ha) routine at the salon.

I will never get my hair looking half as great as the girl who worked her magic on it, but I think it looks better than it did. It was far too long for my comfort, and the ever so slightly lightened color is a godsend for my blah face these days! You can't really tell here because I have a tendency to push my hair back behind my ear, but I've also got some side-swept bangs going on. Not so sure if I can pull off that look, but I'm trying.

But, enough talk about my hair. I've got a cruise to start planning for!

Uh, yeah ...

As if it weren't obvious enough that my hair is completely outta control, apparently that rat's nest decided it needed to reach out and touch my toothbrush tonight.

Yep. I somehow managed to get my toothbrush wrapped around my hair.

And yes, I'm a complete DORK and decided to grab my camera to share it with the world.

Oh yeah. I rock.

Observation

I am beginning to think they leave the heat off in my office over the weekend. I'm all bundled up - with gloves and all - and am still f-f-f-reezing!

Bring on the hot tea.

Hairy situation

OK my fellow bloggers, I need your opinions!

I've finally landed a hair appointment on Wednesday with a fantastic stylist in Atlanta. I already know I'm having a good bit of my scraggly hair lopped off. (Just look at that mess over there on the right!) However, I'm still up in the air about highlights.

My only reservation about getting them is the upkeep - which, I realize, is a huge issue. I usually get my hair trimmed twice a year because I'm THAT uncool. Highlights, of course, need to be taken care of far more often than that.

On the flip side, highlights are a good thing for me. They brighten my whole look, and goodness knows I need that these days.

I'm stuck here. I can't decide. Looking better or no-fuss hair is what it boils down to.

So, to highlight or not to highlight?

More of nothing

I'm afraid I'm losing all two of my readers by not posting lately, so I'm going to try to be better.

With that goal in mind, I've composed a list of what's going on in my little world. Try not to get too excited. It's almost more than anyone can bear.

* I need to go shopping - terribly. My cruise is coming up in 3 weeks, and summer clothes are the last thing I want to think about - especially with snow in the forecast this week. But my shorts and T-shirts are so sad. I don't think misshapen and faded will be a trend this year, so something's got to be done. This means that unless I fall into a miracle sale, I will be paying full price for all the spring/summer clothes retailers are putting out in January. Oh joy.

* I'm going to see Shawn Mullins play Thursday night. So.very.excited.

* I booked my first ever hotel room on Hotwire.com the other night. I'm hooked. A Hyatt for $64 a night (tax included). How does this happen? ... Especially with a NEW Hyatt! Dang.

* I believe I'm getting sick. Better now than when I'm on vacation, but I'm not pleased.

* Weight Watchers starts back this Wednesday. I am a fatty and must drop 20 lbs. by summer. So mad at myself for gaining all but 5 lbs. back.

Happy Friday!

Sorry I've been MIA lately, but I'm alive and hopefully will have something to blog about soon. It's been rather quiet around here lately, which is cool with me. But it doesn't make for interesting blogging.

Have a wonderful weekend!

An attempt at play

My beautiful cat is somewhat of a fatty. I love her to death, but she is not the type of cat to get excited about new a toy - or any toy, for that matter. This means that, in addition to her "diet," I try really, really hard to keep her active ... even if this means bringing a toy to her - on MY bed.

Yesterday was all too typical. A brief surge of interest, followed by a little wallowing around with the only toy she will pay attention to, and then this:

All that action (ha, ha) was just too much for the poor soul. She assumed her usual position and crashed.

What a life.

Cheers to you

Here we are in 2008. Hard to believe, isn't it?

I hope you all rang in the new year with those you love most. And I wish each of you nothing but beautiful days and happiness in the upcoming year.

Thanks for reading this silly little blog. Sometimes I wonder who in the world would be interested in my blithering stories, complaints and, best of all, pictures of my cat.

But for what ever reason you stop by, I truly appreciate your contribution to this little blip on the Interweb, and I hope you'll keep coming back. You guys keep me posting, and I never could have guessed how many friendships I've made through blogging. It's been great.

So, with that said, I send you all my best wishes for a fabulous 2008!

Cheers to you!
